Social media has affected the political scene in such a powerful way. Our current president's tweets are read more on the news than what he actually says in news conference, or so it seems. It is interesting to me how such a medium has completely changed the scope of modern politics. 

Discourse between people has become digital--people posting politically-fueled Facebook posts, and often arguing in the comments with those who disagree. It is my belief that it is more important than ever for media professionals to step in and step up. Media professionals should be the moderators of social media, helping people find their online voice.
